Guided English tour through the citadel of Jülich. Explore the fortification and the former ducal palace of William V.
Concealed behind modern buildings lies the old and famous citadel, a 90,000 m² (22 acre) fortification in the centre of Jülich. Built 450 years ago in the glorious days, when Jülich was the capital of a duchy and the new and posh residence of duke William the wealthy. Time took its toll, but the citadel still impresses and is really worth a visit. We will have a look at the huge fortification with its underground corridors, visit the former ducal palace with its beautiful façade and learn about the Renaissance era and style.
We meet at the meeting point beside the bridge to the citadel at 6 pm. The tour will take one and a half hour and is free of charge, the admission of 4,- € p.p. must be paid.
