Guided Citadel Tour

Free guided citadel tours at 1:30 and 3:30 pm on September 10th.

You want to find out more about Jülich’s rich history and its historical sights? Join us at the “Tag des offenen Denkmals” on September 10th at the Museum Zitadelle Jülich. On this occasion where we celebrate historical monuments in general and specifically the Zitadelle, Jülich´s impressive renaissance fortress.

Learn about Jülich´s roots in Roman times, why it became the one of the technologically advanced fortresses of its time in the 16th century and get to know its most famous sons and daughters, like Johann Wilhelm Schirmer, one of Germany’s most prolific painters in the 19th century.

Explore the citadel and the parts inaccessible to the public in our guided tours. We venture down into the casemates inside the fortress walls and walk the ramparts and bastions to learn more about the defensive marvel of the Zitadelle Jülich.

Entrance and guided tours are free, and we offer guided tours in English at 1:30 and 3:30 pm.
